From the opening whistle, the campaign looked lost — and with the home draw against Tepatitlán FC, Alebrijes of Oaxaca confirmed the worst omens.

It could have been a second straight win for Alebrijes de Oaxaca, but it all ended in a great effort and just a draw against Tepatitlán FC. The Apertura 2025 will go down as another wasted tournament, like the previous ones. The scenario keeps getting more complicated, though this 1–1 result doesn’t sting as much this time.

At least not many left the Estadio Tecnológico disappointed — its stands grow emptier with each match, a painfully sad image that speaks for itself, a clear X-ray of what this project inspires. It’s true: with Alebrijes, the crisis never fully leaves, and hope never quite arrives. All that remains is to wait for what started badly to end soon.

Matchday 13 is now in the books for Juan Rivera’s squad, which will head into Matchday 14 still among the bottom teams.

At the 11th minute, Alebrijes took the lead through Fernando Morales, who converted a perfect pass from Julio Cruz — a straightforward ball that Morales simply met with his right foot, like in training. The ball flew cleanly and confidently past goalkeeper Gustavo Gutiérrez.

A Curse at the Tec

The script didn’t change much in the second half until the final stretch, when Tepatitlán finally broke the deadlock. A looping left-footed shot by Diego Aguilar in the 79th minute sailed over goalkeeper Óscar González, leaving him with no chance.

Yet it could have been different. The play began with a poorly headed clearance by Ethan López (15), who misjudged the ball and, instead of clearing it, inadvertently set up Aguilar perfectly. Aguilar controlled it with his chest and calmly slotted it home.

The furious reaction of Kristian Álvarez (4) —a former Chivas player— toward Ethan for his poor defensive effort was as visible as it was justified. With just minutes left on the clock, the number 15 had connected better with the opposing forward than his teammates had all match.

In the final stretch of the season, Alebrijes de Oaxaca will visit Jaiba Brava on November 1 and, a week later on November 7, will host Correcaminos in their farewell match of the campaign.
