Hundreds of people enjoyed the parade of five delegations that made their way through several streets in the state capital.

With a contingent of 350 participants, the first July Convite — part of the Guelaguetza 2025 festivities — was held, starting from Cruz de Piedra and heading toward the Alameda de León, joyfully and traditionally announcing the beginning of Oaxaca’s greatest celebration.

Music, dances, and multicolored traditional attire filled the streets of Oaxaca de Juárez’s Historic Center, inviting locals and visitors alike to join this grand celebration of unity. The event featured the presence of the 2025 Goddess Centéotl representative, Patricia Casiano Zaragoza, who presides over the 93rd edition of the Guelaguetza.

The Chinas Oaxaqueñas of Genoveva Medina led the parade, dazzling the crowd with the Jarabe del Valle and their traditional baskets. They have participated in the Lunes del Cerro since 1957 and are a staple in calendas, convites, and Guelaguetza festivities, always accompanied by marmotas (giant puppets), fireworks handlers, and lantern bearers that fill the celebration with joy.

They were followed by the delegations of Cuilápam de Guerrero, the Canasteras of Puerto Ángel, Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán, and San Pablo Villa de Mitla, who paraded along the Andador Turístico, José María Morelos Avenue, and García Vigil Street, ending at the Alameda de León esplanade.

This celebration was also led by the Intersecretarial Committee of the Guelaguetza festivities, made up of Tourism Secretary Saymi Pineda Velasco; Secretary of Cultures and Arts, Flavio Sosa; Secretary of Interculturality, Indigenous and Afromexican Peoples and Communities, Juana Hernández López; and Deputy Secretary for Economic Development and Investment Promotion, Iñigo Arturo Aragón García.
