The Governor of Oaxaca denied that the strike of state security elements is active, and called on them to trust the actions of his administration.

Salomón Jara Cruz, Governor of Oaxaca, denied that there is an active work stoppage by state security elements. What there is is a permanent dialogue table to resolve and advance the demands, which basically are improvements in the payment of pensions and other labor benefits. Moreover, the state governor recalled that it was during his mandate that the salary of the police force was raised, which went from 8 thousand to 14 thousand pesos per month, and that facilities, uniforms, patrols and weapons were renewed.

“We know that there is an outstanding debt with our police officers; we are seeking to repair it, because in other six-year terms such as those of José Murat, Ulises Ruiz, Gabino Cue and Alejandro Murat they were mistreated and even marginalized. Now it is our turn to comply by giving them greater benefits. Work is being done to give them pensions and even social interest housing”.

The Governor of Oaxaca said that there is a plan to grant police officers facilities to access social housing: 26 thousand from Infonavit and 46 thousand from Conavi.

Reform to the Pension Law

The state governor also announced that a reform regarding pensions will be presented to the Congress of Oaxaca to improve the perceptions of state police officers.

That is why Jara Cruz called on dissatisfied police officers who trust in the actions of his administration, since - he said - they are aimed at improving their living and working conditions.
